Why We Opened Our First Studio in Jersey City

For most of our history, Parish Mandhan Productions has operated the way a lot of production companies start out — on location, wherever the work took us, without a fixed home base. Opening our first studio in Jersey City marks a real shift, and it's worth explaining why we made that choice, and what it actually means for the clients we work with.

Why a Studio, and Why Now

Growing from project-based, on-location work into a company with a dedicated studio space is a natural next step once a certain kind of demand becomes consistent controlled, repeatable environments for headshots, personal branding sessions, product photography, and interviews that don't depend on finding and booking a new location every time. A studio gives us that consistency: the same reliable lighting setup, the same clean backdrops, and a space we know inside and out, rather than adapting to a new environment for every session.

Why Jersey City Specifically

Jersey City offered something genuinely practical: proximity to New York City, close enough to serve our Manhattan client base without the overhead and logistics of a Manhattan studio lease, combined with a growing creative and corporate community of its own. Jersey City has increasingly become a home for companies and creatives who want real studio and production space without the premium of operating directly in the city, and we wanted to be part of that community rather than simply visiting it for shoots.

What a Studio Actually Adds for Clients

A controlled environment when you need one. Not every project benefits from an on-location shoot. Headshots, personal branding sessions, product photography, and certain interviews are often stronger in a dedicated studio space, where lighting and background are fully in our control rather than adapted to whatever a location happens to offer.

Consistency across sessions. A studio means we can deliver a consistent look and quality across multiple shoots for the same client, useful for companies building out a full team's worth of headshots, or an ongoing content relationship where visual consistency matters over time.

A base for planning and pre-production. Having a physical home base gives us a dedicated space for pre-production work, planning shoots, reviewing footage, meeting with clients, rather than conducting every part of the process remotely or on the fly.

What Hasn't Changed

Opening a studio doesn't mean we've shifted away from on-location work, event coverage, corporate shoots, and location-based storytelling remain the core of what we do, and always will. The studio is an addition to that work, not a replacement for it: a dedicated space for the specific kinds of projects that benefit from a controlled environment, alongside the on-location, story-driven coverage that's always been our focus.

What This Means Going Forward

A studio is also, honestly, a sign of where we're headed as a company, from project-based work to a more established, full-service production company with the infrastructure to match the scale of client we increasingly work with. It's a milestone we're proud of, and one that reflects the growth of the company since its earliest days.

The Bottom Line

Opening our first studio in Jersey City wasn't about moving away from what got us here, it's about adding real capability for the projects that call for a controlled, consistent environment, while staying just as committed to the on-location, story-driven work that's always defined Parish Mandhan Productions.
